Held within the original walls of a registered national monument from the 1710s, Waal has been restored with an uncompromising eye — modern comfort drawn quietly through three centuries of timber, brick and light.
It sits two short flights up inside a former packing house on one of the most coveted stretches of the Prinsengracht, in the calm heart of the Jordaan. A tall front door opens to a round mirror and the warm hush of the main rooms; beyond a glass pivot door, an open living and dining room runs to a French balcony above the water.
This is a home for a residence, not a stopover. Waal is offered to a small number of discerning guests at a time, for a month or longer.
